Insight: Life About Cars is a South African motoring platform founded and owned by myself, YE. Life About Cars is built with one purpose in mind; that is to unite all like-minded car enthusiasts.
There has always been something that I wanted to do, and that was to host a Life About Cars breakfast run. This being the first LAC breakfast run that I hosted, finding our feet was essential and therefore the run was initially planned to accommodate a maximum of only 10 cars. However, as time for the run neared, it was a “what the heck” moment and it was decided to grow it a bit. The number of participants grew, and before we knew it, we had approximately 25 awesome cars on the run.
The run was kept a secret and invites were sent to friends, and those friends invited their friends. This method was used so that we could all expand our social circles and click with our fellow like-minded petrolheads.
The run was an absolute delight and went off without a hitch. Yes, it was extremely nerve wrecking to be hosting a breakfast run, especially for the first time. If you know me, then you’ll know that I am horrible with directions. Thankfully, my dad was there to help make sure that the run goes off smoothly.
The breakfast run started off at the Caltex garage in Oaklands. We had freshly made samoosa’s available at the start point, which were collected at 6am that morning, to get some fuel into our petrolheads systems. We then all proceeded to Damdoryn Junction in Hartbeespoort to enjoy the long awaited breakfast.
One thing needs to be said; every car which was at the run was incredible and tastefully done up.
The amount of support received was absolutely incredible! A massive thank you to everyone who was involved in creating such an awesome event. Every single person who participated had contributed greatly in the success of this run and proved that cars do unite people.
A special mention to my friend, Muazzam (from The Automotive Life) for his involvement and helping to organize this run.
Thanks to Caltex Garage Oaklands as well as Steers/Fishaways Damdoryn Junction for hosting us.
Now here’s the kicker, I challenged myself to personally take the images of the cars on the run as well as manage to pull of a cool event. I guess we can say it turned out pretty decent.
